Chick-fil-A comes to the rescue of stranded drivers in Birmingham

This is one of the nicest stories I've seen on the national news in a long time.

A Chick-fil-A owner and his employees came to the rescue for hundreds of motorists stranded with no food in the ice and snow that hit Birmingham, Alabama. It was a remarkable act of kindness.

They deserve all the blessings I'm sure they will receive.

Snow Falls in Two Egg, Florida

For the first time in more than a decade, snow has fallen on our unique little community of Two Egg, Florida!

The Two Egg area joined the list of Southern communities receiving snowfall as the record-breaking winter continues. Two Egg doesn't see snow very often, but today it began to fall at around 3:30 p.m. and continued for more than an hour and a half as a winter weather advisory was issued across Northwest Florida by the National Weather Service.

Two Egg's last noticable snow was in the early 1990s, although there have been a few flurries over the years since. Today's snowfall was enough to dust the grass and cover the tops of cars and roofs. Nearby communities reported slightly heavier amounts.

Alabama Snow - March 1, 2009

Residents of virtually the entire state of Alabama awaked to a rare sight this morning. Snow fell from the Tennessee line south almost to the Florida line.

Measurable snow fell across most of the state, from a dusting in the Dothan area to several inches in the north. Cheaha State Park and other areas in the mountains reported a significant snowfall, while 1-2 inches was forecast for both Birmingham in Montgomery.

Some light traffic problems were reported, but the warm ground temperatures and the fact that the snow came on a Sunday kept driving issues to a minimum.

Such events are historic in Alabama because a snow that falls across virtually the entire state is rare.
